Working Hard...

 

Mom and dad have been working hard to get the barn ready for the horse - Ruby.  I've never met her but I hear I will soon.  I'm happy to laze around inside where it's nice and warm.  When it's nice I'll go out - here I am with my dad.

Biscuit goes out and lays in the grass waiting for mom while she works.  That's him outside the barn. He walks around the yard and rolls in 'things' and mom has to clean him up!   

First Fire

Dad lit a fire in the wood stove for the first time last Saturday night.  I was mesmerized.

The sun came out and the wind died down so I'm outside enjoying the afternoon on MY BIRTHDAY!!!

It's My Birthday!!!

Today is my birthday!  I'm 7 years old!  It's too windy to go out on the deck today so I am curled up in my chair. 

 

Mom says I'm getting gray in my cheeks!  She should look in the mirror - she's graying all around her face!  Love my mom!

New Digs...

I've been busy this summer - relaxing...

My family and I have moved to a farm in Lyman 3 weeks ago... I love it - lots of new smells and we have a HUGE yard to walk around in.  Mom's going to fence in a place for us to run.  right now she walks us all around. 

I have a back deck to survey the land, and mom and dad had an awning put on the house for me to give me shade! 

 

It's pretty high up and dad wants to add some bars so I don't fall off, but I'm careful. 

 

I have a front porch too - and my studio chair is now on the screened in porch.  I've been hogging The Biscuit's beds too... have to show him who's boss at the new place!  

Beach Bum!

 

Mom took me to the beach the other day - for the first time in my life!  I wasn't impressed... it smelled good - so many smells - but the water was so cold.  I peed a little for good measure and tried to go back tot he car.

Biscuit tried to roll in the sand!  He managed to get his face in the sand and then he sat!  He had just come from the groomer.  He didn't seem to mind the cold water.

Perhaps we'll go again sometime, but not sure I like it.

Biskey Update

My Biskey is doing OK... he is a little disoriented and walking into walls with that collar on... Mom took it off tonight and the first thing he did was try to rub his eye, so he has it back on. 

I'm happy my Biscuit is doing OK... I can't wait until I can wrestle with him again.  He looks like a big blue flower walking around the house!

Biskey's Home...

Biskey's surgery went well and he came home around 1:30 this afternoon.  I am a happy girl!  He's been sleeping - he sleeps with his eyes open - can you see?! 

He needs eye ointment and pain medicine, and he has 2 stitches in his eyelid - so he has to wear that clown collar!  The vet said she doesn't think it's cancer so no biopsy! 

I missed Biskey... mom took me to the dog park and fed me dog cookies and I wouldn't run and play, and I wouldn't eat the cookies.  Now I'm in my porch chair...

My Biscuit is going under the knife this morning to remove a tumor from his eyelid... Poor Biskey had no breakfast...

My 4-Year Anniversary...

4 years ago today I arrived in Maine at my forever home...

I was found in Missouri by a nice woman, after my puppy was hit by a car in 2009.  She never found my puppy, but I hopped in her car and she took me to a shelter.  A few days later she picked me up and brought me to another shelter - this time in Arkansas - because the one I was in was a kill shelter.  October 8 was the day she brought me to Arkansas, so that is my birthday. 

I was in that shelter for over 4 months and nobody even looked at me to adopt... then my future parents in Maine lost their coonhound, Gretchen, very suddenly to grave illness in February of 2010.  Already grieving from the loss of their golden, Hobo, 3 months before, they sought out a companion for their dog Blue.  Their hearts were ready for me.  I traveled 3 days in a tractor trailer transport truck to get to Maine... Here are some of my favorite photos from the last 4 years...

Ground Hog Day

Punxsutawney Phil - the groundhog - lives in Punxsutawney, PA, and looks for his shadow every year on February 2.  If it’s sunny out and he sees it, we’re in for six more weeks of winter. On the other hand if its cloudy it forecasts an early spring.  He emerges around 7:30 am... what will he see today...
