An artist friend of my mom's from Virginia painted my portrait and sent to her as a surprise! Doesn't it look like me?! The title is 'Dixie the Fashionatta' and it's painted in oil. My tag says 'Club Fashion' - can you see it?! I love it! My mom was speechless! What a wonderful gift from a special friend!!!

One-Year Anniversary
Last year at 3:26 pm, this picture was taken of me with Kyle Peterson walking off the PETS truck on February 20, 2010, in Portsmouth, NH. Today is my one-year anniversary for living in Maine with my forever family. My mom and dad were so happy to see me. I jumped all over them.
After they received my paperwork, my dad put me in the car and we went for a ride. Don't I look happy? When I got to my new home I went for a walk to meet Blue-belle. She's a very sweet girl, and she welcomed me into her home. I was out of control because I had never been in a house before. But, as you can see, that first day I was thanking my dad for rescuing me. I am a very happy hound!
If you want more information, just read my bio!
And, the 53rd running of the Daytona 500 is today at 1 PM! 500 miles - 200 laps... Dale Jr is on the pole... You didn't know I was a NASCAR fan! Yup, just like my parents!

The Valentines
Everyone is celebrating Valentine's day this weekend, especially on Saturday night. I thought I would try to talk some fashion sense to The Biscuit and Blue-belle, but as you can see, The Biscuit looks utterly miserable, dressed for a date to see his mom. The hot-pink really brings out the pizazz in Blue-belle! She's so sweet. Of course, I've accessorized with my pale pink jewel-studded crown...

Valentine's Day Preparations...
As the fashion diva in this household, it is very important for me to help the others create a unique wardrobe and use their innate fashion sense. Tomorrow I will try to do just that with my canine friends. I am well prepared for the heartful day myself.
You are running out of time to find that special outfit for your evening out or your evening in. And don't forget your lingerie... hot pink, fire-engine red or pale pink, satin, velvet or lace. I prefer au naturel in the boudoir myself!

Color Trends
Nothing brightens a cold gloomy day like color! I mean, look at my mom's paintings... Look at me! My new glasses are perfect for the spring fashion trends.
Colors inspire and brighten up our lives. Muted tones calm us and make us feel lyrical. This year wear them together - vibrant hues and muted shades. So, what colors will be trendy this spring and summer? Jewel-tones - vibrant orange, purple, emerald green, citrus yellow and deep red!
Orange is the most exciting color trend of the spring 2011 fashion season. (and it matches my mom's paintings very well!) Wear it with vibrant purples and emerald green, or with neutral colors like black and beige. Orange is very versatile.
White never goes out of style, wear it/pair it with shades of gray and pale pinks. Remember accessorize... Use your unique dressing sense. Select shoes in contrasting colors, remember hair accessories and don't forget matching or complementary bright color handbags to jazz up your look.

Hairstyles...
We went for a ride today... and this is what our house looks like from across the street. We are getting more snow and I am snuggled on top of The Biscuit. You can see he doesn't mind!
Mom brushed us yesterday and we have new scarfs on, coordinated with our leashes and collars. My coat is short and sleek, so I don't require much brushing unlike The Biscuit and Blue-belle. I don't need my hair styled either... unlike The Biscuit. He needs his paws trimmed and his legs and his butt shaped! I just sit and watch as mom goes at him with scissors! We do have to pay attention to our hygiene. We get baths pretty often, but I'd rather not smell like bath bubbles. Rolling in yellow snow is not for me, I'd rather roll in some road-kill, but it's difficult in winter. It does feel delicious to roll in something forbidden and a little gratifying!

Fashion Sense
Looks like a nice day to stay inside and read a good book.
In case you haven't noticed, my mom likes to dress me. Many owners like to dress their canine companions. When thinking fashion, body type and size have to be considered. Be selective when wearing prints - avoid stripes and argyle if your portly! Some tips: be sure to coordinate - collars and leashes must match, or if you wear a harness... it's gotta match the leash. Harnesses do make you look fat, so be aware. Also, if you are a small dog, a harness can create the illusion of size!
Coordinate coats and sweaters with scarfs and your natural hair color. A brown sweater on a brown dog - boring. As I've mentioned before, faux fur and faux leather are great materials. Feathers and sequins have their place as decorative bling. When wearing any of these 'anthropomorphized' accessories, I like to infuse my pose with a little attitude.
Tip from 'The Complete Petrosexual': "Clothing that can't be readily identified should be avoided."
